In the framework of the “Quality week – 2019”, at the Department of Philology, Culture and Teaching Methods, a round table was held at the West Kazakhstan Innovative and Technological University on the topic: “Linguistic and political aspects of the transition to Latin script”. The round table was attended by: director of the Almaty institute for the development of the state language, Candidate of Philology Bizhomart Kapalbek, chairman of the West Kazakhstan Branch of the Kazakh language Association, associate professor of WKITU Bolat Zheksengaliev, associate professor of WKSU named after M. Utemisov, Candidate of Philology Kuspan Aronov, head of the department of Philology, Culture and Teaching Methods, Candidate of Pedagogics, associate professor Marat Azhgaliev, lecturers and students of the university.

At the meeting, Bizhomart Seisenbekovich noted that the transition to the Latin alphabet will not adversely affect literacy, and that the final version of the alphabet is still being discussed.

During the meeting, Bolat Zheksengaliev noted that representatives of the Kazakh intelligentsia, headed by Akhmet Baitursynov, at the beginning of the last century raised the issue of national writing at the national level and decided on the basis of national interests, and today’s Kazakhstan’s society should be guided by this model.

Lecturers and students asked questions, shared their thoughts and exchanged views.
