Finance and Economics

The Department of Finance and Economics is a graduate department under the educational program 6B04106 “Finance”, 6B04105 “Accounting and Audit”, “Management”, 6B04102 “Economics”, 6B041104 “State and Local Administration” (bachelor’s degree) and 7M04101-7М04107-“Finance”, 7M04102 “Economics” (master’s degree).

The mission of the department is to train competitive, highly qualified specialists of a new formation in the field of finance, accounting and tourism, with high analytical and leadership qualities, able to work in a team.

The implementation of the mission involves solving the following tasks:

publication and implementation of research results of scientific and practical value;

formation and continuous improvement of professional knowledge in all financial and economic spheres;

ensuring sustainable dynamic development of educational activities of the department.

In a short time, a team of like-minded people has been formed who are able to effectively solve complex tasks of an educational, methodological, research and educational nature. The quantitative and qualitative composition of the teaching staff of the department meets the requirements. In the staff, candidates of Economic Sciences and associate professors are Kurmanova G., Sukhanberdina B., Manasova S., Makasheva Zh., Suerbaev Sh., Mahmudov A., Yesenaliev B., Dogalov A., Mashanova S., Masters of Economic Sciences-Salimbayeva Sh., Nurmanova A., Togasheva D., Amangalieva A., Urazova B., Masters of Economics- Islyamov R., Tlesova Zh. and senior teachers with practical experience Aimesheva Zh., Fedorchenko L., Umarova N.

Most of the members of the Department of Finance and Economics, in addition to having a basic education, an academic degree and an academic title, have practical work experience, which allows using this experience in the process of teaching disciplines and training highly qualified specialists in the field of accounting and financial activities.

Research work

 The teaching staff of the department is engaged in the development of the research topic “Modern problems of socio-economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “Innovative economy of the region and ways to improve it”. (period 2019-2024).

Within the framework of the agreement on creative cooperation between the Department of Finance and Economics of the West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technology University (Uralsk, Republic of Kazakhstan) and the Department of Economics of Samara State Socio-Pedagogical University (Samara, Russian Federation) on the research topic “Entrepreneurship in the system of factors of socio-economic development region (based on the materials of the West Kazakhstan and Samara regions)” for 2020-2023.

The scientific and practical part of the department’s research takes place in close connection with enterprises, commercial banks, and government agencies.

Teachers of the department take an active part in national and international scientific and practical conferences.

The most important goal of the scientific work of the department is to increase the effectiveness of the scientific work of the teachers of the department, the development of independence, creativity, professional skills, skills of conducting scientific research, attracting students and undergraduates to it.

The department has organized scientific and student circles, which are attended by students of 1-4 courses in Finance, Accounting and Auditing, Economics, State and Local Government. Students and undergraduates take an active part in international scientific and practical conferences.

The department actively participates in the traditional events “Financier’s Day”, “Accountant’s Day”, scientific student conferences, seminars, round tables, Olympiads.

Educational and methodical work

 The teaching staff of the Department of Finance and Economics uses innovative technologies in the educational process. Classes are conducted at a high level with the use of modern technologies and the use of multimedia devices. Every year, teachers conduct open lectures and practical classes.

In order to stimulate students and undergraduates, develop their creative thinking, and improve their methodological qualifications, teachers use an informational lecture, a problem lecture, a visualization lecture, a discussion seminar, a research seminar, and a round table. Role-playing games, problem tasks, work in small groups, business game, situational analysis, interactive techniques “Brainstorming”, “Project Method”, collective trainings, questions and answers, discussion are actively used in the educational process.

For the successful implementation of the educational process, there are specialized 1C-Enterprise offices (505 office, building No. 1), HR-management (608 office), Virtual Enterprise (office 503/1), Local Executive Body (office 609), Tourism (office 502) and Virtual Bank office (605 office).

Practice-oriented classes are held in the branches of the department of LLP “TRISTAR”, hotel “Prestige”.

Students undergo professional practice in such organizations as NCE “Atameken”, GU “Department of Entrepreneurship of Uralsk”, GU “Department of Economics and Budget Planning of the West Kazakhstan region”, GU “Management of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and innovative development of the West Kazakhstan region”, the offices of akims of district and rural districts, LLP “QazStroyKompany”, IT Group Kazakhstan LLP, etc.

The department interacts with the West Kazakhstan Branch of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “BankCentrCredit”, JSC “People’s Bank of Kazakhstan”, the Republican state Institution “State Revenue Administration for the city of Uralsk of the Department of State Revenue for the West Kazakhstan region of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, the Ural branch of JSC “NGSK KazStroyService”, JSC “TechnodomOperator” (Technodom Operator), Municipal state Institutions “Territorial Center for Social Services for Pensioners and Disabled Persons of the Department of Employment and Social Programs”, SCCP “WKO Center for Youth Tourism and Ecology”, GU “Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial and Innovative Development of the West Kazakhstan region”, Prestige Hotel, which provide places for practical training and practical materials, balance sheets and other materials used in the educational process. Every year, the department sends students to practice at the KPO B.V. in Aksai.

In the conditions of a market economy and management improvement, the role and importance of the organization and management of finance, financial institutions in all spheres of the national economy is increasing. Especially this specialty becomes relevant in the period of the current economic situation, since proper management of financial flows will allow to cope with the shortage of monetary resources, to make accurate forecasts of the behavior of subjects in the financial market.

The educational programs finance, accounting and auditing, tourism, management, economics, state and local government enable students to gain extensive knowledge about the processes of formation and execution of budgets of different levels, the procedure for planning accounting and reporting, organization and management of cash flows of enterprises, preparation of accounting and reporting of enterprises.
