On 15.09.2023, a meeting with Senators of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in the Akimat of the West Kazakhstan region with the participation of Akim N.T. Toregaliev.
The meeting was attended by senators headed by the Chairman of the Agrarian Committee A. Bektayev, Vice-Ministers of Ecology and Nature Management and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, farmers of the West Kazakhstan Region, heads of regional departments, territorial inspections, representatives of NGOs, scientists. The event was attended by Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Technosphere Safety, Director of the Scientific and Production Center of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Doctor of Medical Sciences Absatirov Gaisa Garapovich.
The main issue of the meeting was the discussion and decision-making on regulating the number of saigas in the West Kazakhstan region.
Agricultural producers have been suffering for several years from an excessively increased population of saigas, which destroy pastures and haymaking, cause damage to crops.
During the debate, he spoke about the need to take into account the veterinary risks associated with an increase in the saiga population and the availability of opportunities for domestic scientists to conduct research in the use of derivatives for the manufacture of biological products.
According to the results of the meeting, the senators assured the farmers that they would submit proposals to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on compensation to farmers for the damage caused and the need to regulate the number of saiga populations in the West Kazakhstan region.
