On November 15, 2024, students of the 6B07102 «Electrical Power Engineering» educational program had a unique opportunity to visit the «Uralsk 220/110/10 kV» substation. This visit allowed them to gain practical insights into the operation of one of the key facilities of energy infrastructure. This event was organized as part of the academic program for future electrical engineering specialists, aimed at deepening their knowledge of the real processes of power transmission and distribution.
During the excursion, students learned about the substation’s structure, its main components, and its role in ensuring a stable supply of electricity to the region. The substation’s chief engineer provided detailed explanations about the operation of power transformers, high-voltage equipment, automation and protection systems necessary for the uninterrupted operation of the network. Particular attention was paid to safety procedures, as well as modern approaches to power flow management and minimizing losses.
The visit to the substation allowed students to visually see in action the knowledge they acquire in the classroom and ask questions to practicing specialists. We are confident that such events contribute to the formation of practical skills and students’ understanding of the significance of their profession for the sustainable development of the country’s energy system.
We would like to thank the substation staff for the interesting tour and professionalism, as well as for the valuable knowledge they shared with our students!
